A perennial, evergreen shrub "Rosmarinus officinalis" with woody, upright stems and thin, needle-like, highly aromatic leaves that have a bitter, astringent flavour. It grows in temperate climates, particularly accross the Mediterranean, where it is widely used in cooking.
