A dense, sweet confectionary popular throughout the Balkans, Middle East and North Africa, that exists in two main forms: flour-based halva is usually made using semolina, and has a gelatinous appearance and texture, while nut-butter-based halva is crumbly, and is made using tahini and sugar.
