Tunisian meat pie
Humans create boundaries to define themselves and their cultures, yet it becomes apparent through various things that in the end we are very similar. This Tunisian meat pie is almost like a British shepherd's pie, only that it was thought up miles further south!
Ingredients:
1 large onion
450 gr lean ground beef chuck
2 tbsp olive oil
4 large potatoes
2 eggs
1/ 3 bunch parsley
salt & pepper to taste
1/2 tsp garlic powder
4 eggs, lightly beaten
Procedure:
Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Chop the onion
- Boil the potatoes
- Hard boil the eggs (14 minutes starting from cold water/ 9 minutes from boiling). Then chop.
- Finely chop the parsley
1. In a skillet with a thin layer of oil, brown the onion and meat until well cooked; remove from heat.
2. Mix in the potatoes, chopped eggs, parsley, salt, pepper and garlic powder.
3. Stir in beaten eggs; blend well. Place mixture into a lightly greased 9-inch round pan or an ovenproof casserole. Bake for 45 minutes.
*Serve in wedges.
